Xinyu Shou and Saad Fakhar reported on the Key Club International Convention in San Antonio, TX, in July 2017. They visited the Alamo, enjoyed the Riverwalk, and then participated in many workshops at the convention. The Key Club International’s new project is THIRST, an effort to provide clean water for those in need. Our Key Club Governor, Megan Richards, Division 15A, announced her special project: Pay It Forward. The focus of this project is to help at homes for the elderly, to improve the lives of the residents. We discussed Warren Apartments as a possible target for this project. Cindy and Saad both are informative and articulate, and are excellent representatives for DHS Key Club.
Ms. Stryker addressed us about diet, nutrition, and eating for a healthier brain. Her presentation was informative and interesting. Thanks to Trudy Wexler for arranging this!
Judd Anderson and two rowers addressed our membership. Their presentation was enhanced by our other guests Emma Riegel and Ali Dowell. Emma is a formaer participant in the Reach High Rowing program and knew one of the rowers present. Our speaker and guests provided us with a very entertaining evening.
Peter Gourlay presented to our club a photo plaque of the Girls Softball team that we sponsored for 2016, and asked for our support for the 2017 season. He spoke about the teams, the girls, and the volunteer organization behind such a valuable program. He also shared with us that they need umpires.
